Dr. Marco De La Cruz Rejoins the IIAS Secretariat as Scientific Director

The International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) is pleased to announce the return of Dr. Marco De la Cruz, who rejoins the IIAS Secretariat as Scientific Director.

Dr. De la Cruz holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration from KU Leuven, with a specialization in governance and education. His academic background also includes a Master’s degree in Statistics and Data Science, as well as an Advanced Master in Development Evaluation and Management from the University of Antwerp. His profile uniquely combines strong theoretical foundations with advanced quantitative and methodological expertise.

His work focuses on applied quantitative research, policy evaluation, and data governance, particularly in comparative and multi-country contexts. Over the years, Dr. De la Cruz has collaborated extensively with European and international institutions on large-scale surveys, policy evaluations, and methodological innovation, contributing to evidence-based policymaking and institutional learning.

Prior to returning to IIAS, Dr. De la Cruz served as a Senior Research Expert at Ipsos’ European Public Affairs team in Belgium, where he was involved in high-level research projects at the intersection of public policy, governance, and data analysis. He is also actively engaged in international academic networks and regularly contributes to advanced training programs in statistics and research methods.

In his role as Scientific Director, Dr. De la Cruz will play a central role in strengthening the scientific quality of IIAS activities, supporting research initiatives, and fostering collaboration across the Institute’s international networks.

IIAS warmly welcomes Dr. De la Cruz back to the Secretariat and looks forward to his continued contributions to the Institute’s mission.

The International Institute of Administrative Sciences calls for proposals for its 2026 Conference, to be held in Seoul (South Korea) on November 17-20 on the theme of "Growth for Society: Collaborative governance, social innovation, and Public Value". Additional calls can be submitted to iias-conference@iias-iisa.org by May 24. 

The International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) and the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) took a step forward in aligning scientific activities across IIAS and its entities through a recent meeting involving Liezel Lues, President of IASIA, Tim Mau (University of Guelph), and Marco De la Cruz, Scientific Director of IIAS.

The European Group for Public Administration (EGPA) has received nearly 900 submissions for its 2026 Annual Conference, to be held at Sapienza Università di Roma in Rome from August 24 to 27, 2026.
